Description

Heyo, boys and girls

After 998 layers, it's done!

EDIT: Fixed some highlights

so, this piece's been sitting on my desktop for weeks, I started it and then I had so many things to do that it stayed there, forgotten and abandoned for a while. So, when things got a little better I started working day and night to finish this painting once and for all. I just can't look at it anymore haha

Concept!

"Every year the inhabitants of Catratsburg celebrate the "Day Of The Pumpking". A ritual, held every autumn, to recall a legendary battle between the evil General Pumpking and the mighty hero Roland Ratsburgh and his loyal squire Kats.

The Pumpking was the impetuous general of Graveland, a militaristic city that wishes to destroy it's rival, the peaceful Catratsburg. By conquering it's nemesis, Graveland would be free to expand more and more with no opposition. The piece portrays the day when the two forces confronted each other. Two heroes against a horde of evil beings, the fate of the whole world to be decided by a valiant mouse and a loyal cat. The battle raged on."

It was inspired by Fantomas/Phantomas, Zelda, Chrono Trigger (the rat was based on Frog), fairytales, Animal Farm, Tim Burton, Town Musicians Of Bremen and some other stuff

that's it hope you all like it! Comments Favs Critiques, everything is more than welcome!

Vivid colors, and so Tim Burtonesque. I grew up loving Halloween because of the autumn colors, the warm, yet mysterious and ominous feeling in the background of my mind, and this pictures brings all those childhood feelings flooding out again. From the yellow in their eyes, to the old wooden sign and fence, to the heroes themselves, it takes me back to a simpler childhood, and gives me a great feeling. Obviously, I cannot express in words what your picture does. As a writer, this makes me want to start on a children's story, that would be a classic. Vivid. I can't say it enough! Again, well done!
